Cyprus Health Tourism Council President Dr. Ahmet Savaşan made inspections at Mersin City Hospital, which is the largest hospital in Turkey and Europe with an indoor area of 370 thousand square meters.
According to the statement made by the Council, Prof. Dr. Dr. Dr. Dr. Özyeğin, who went to Mersin to attend the General Assembly of the World Disability Union (WDU), was appointed as the President of the Council. Explaining that the five-star hotel hospital has 1,300 beds, 51 operating rooms, 280 examination rooms and provides international standard healthcare services to 12,000 patients a day, Uzm. Dr. Bahar Aydınlı said that more than 5,000 health personnel work in the hospital, which is equipped with state-of-the-art technology devices.

Stating that the hospital has started to host patients from Africa, the Middle East, Turkic Republics and Europe, Dr. Kerim Koray Kebir, Head of the Department of Health Tourism, said in his speech during the visit that they would be very happy to cooperate with Northern Cyprus on health tourists and information sharing.

Stating that Turkey has taken steps that will set an example for the world in terms of transformation in health, Savaşan said, “We see it as a great chance for our country and our state, the TRNC, that these steps have been taken in Turkey and that Recep Akdağ, one of the architects of these steps, is the Deputy Prime Minister in charge of Cyprus Affairs of the Republic of Turkey.” Stating his belief that the cooperation initiated will bring great mutual benefits, Savaşan thanked the hospital officials for their sincere interest.

The President of the Council also visited Mersin Journalists Association and met with Turgay Demirtaş, who was newly elected as the President of the Association, and members of the Board of Directors. Ahmet Savaşan, He underlined that the Association has contributed to the proper recognition of Northern Cyprus in Turkey from past to present and expressed his satisfaction to see that the new management will continue this. In his speech during the visit, Mersin Journalists Association President Demirtaş emphasized that the TRNC is very important for them and that they are ready to do whatever their duty is to make the voice of the TRNC heard.
